How often should I have my teeth cleaned at a dental office?

With an excellent oral hygiene routine at home and routine dental cleanings and exams at Dentistry of Fishers, you can maintain exceptional oral health and a beautiful smile. We recommend that patients visit us every six months for a dental cleaning and exam at a minimum.

However, if you have gum disease or other oral health issues that we need to keep an eye on, we may increase your cleaning schedule so we can see you more frequently and provide you with more care and attention.

What Happens During a Dental Cleaning?

At Dentistry of Fishers, your dental cleaning will be performed by a skilled dental hygienist. First, the hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth and gums, removing all plaque and tartar for better oral health and a more attractive smile. Then, the hygienist can polish your teeth, making them appear shiny and smooth. Your hygienist may also provide a fluoride treatment.

Our dental hygienist has advanced tools and training in achieving ideal cleanliness and can remove tartar that is impossible to remove with just a toothbrush and floss, so these cleanings truly are necessary to keep your teeth and gums healthy and strong.
